JIN 신지 MOON
(they/them)
loving, gentle, & trauma-informed care for your
birth and postpartum journey
Based in Tacoma, WA
and serving Thurston, Pierce, and King counties
We all deserve culturally humble, trauma-informed, joyful & gentle care for our reproductive health journeys — care that sees where we've been, where we are now, and where we would like to be.
My work as as a full spectrum doula is to be a consistent place to land for you and your family through the transformative processes of your perinatal experience. Although my days are usually filled with birth and postpartum support, I am passionate about herbal fertility support, abortion care, being a companion through the deep rivers of grief and loss, as well as gender transition support and surgery recovery. As your doula, it is an honor to walk alongside you, bearing witness to the many histories and life turns that brought you here, and meeting you with deep presence and care. There is so much that we cannot predict in birth, but what I can offer is evidence-based education, a calm and grounded presence, and care that meets you where you are, so that we can greet whatever arises together.
I approach birth as ceremony, and reproductive care as liberation work. As a queer and genderfluid Korean person who has experienced multiple levels of violence, I understand how important it is to feel empowered and witnessed, without judgment, in the care that I receive. Anti-imperialism, Indigenous sovereignty, and Black liberation, are foundational to my value systems. On a personal level, this translates into humility around cultural lineages, self-accountability, and deepening my understanding of others. On a professional level, this means honoring evidence-based care, land-based and culturally relevant birth teachings, and what works for you and your body as you traverse the worlds of birth and postpartum. I am passionate about the spiritual and physical processes that one goes through during the perinatal experience, and am a nerd about physiology. I am eager to share what I know, and to be curious about what I don’t know, so that we can learn together. I incorporate herbal support, Traditional Chinese/Korean Medicine frameworks, and land-based teachings as integral parts of my practices, and strive to be in right relation to this land and Coast Salish communities as a settler here. I approach my care work with curiosity, joy, and gentle commitment to your ongoing well-being, guided deeply by the constellation of my community, mentors, ancestors, and the families that I work with. In my heart of hearts, I believe in a world where all of us are free — where our BIPGM (Black, Indigenous, People of the Global Majority), 2SLGBTQIA+, fat, disabled, neurodiverse, migrant, and under-resourced loved ones are safe, and I have chosen birth work as the door through which I walk that talk. I can go on forever about all of this, but for now, I will end by saying: I believe that the care we offer one another has the potential to shape the future. If you resonate with what I write, I would love to hear from you. It would be an honor to be part of your story. Thank you so much for being here.

I am incredibly grateful to have Jin's support during the early postpartum period. As a first time mom, I found myself feeling overwhelmed with healing, lactation difficulties, sleep deprivation, newborn care, and above all, the immense uncertainty of whether I was doing enough for my baby. Jin was a wonderful calming presence in those confusing moments. They did not only support me by holding my baby so I didn't feel so touched out, but they also held me. That was so pivotal to my postpartum recovery, both physically and mentally. They were so observant and genuinely caring. They checked in often outside of their shifts and looked for resources to help navigate whatever challenge I was facing. They were my biggest cheerleader in my first few months after becoming a mom. At the end of our time together, they pretty much felt like family to me, my husband and my infant daughter. We love Jin and cannot recommend them enough. They truly were a blessing!

I feel incredibly grateful to have had Jin by my side for the home birth of my child. Jin’s presence was a blend of expertise and intuition that made me feel seen, supported, and deeply respected. From the very start, they created a warm, trauma-informed space that allowed me to relax and trust their guidance. During labor, Jin had this almost magical ability to know just what I needed without words—especially in their touch and their silent support as I moved through each contraction. They provided gentle care not only for me but also supported my partner in a way that made us feel like a true team.
After my child was born, Jin continued to be a source of comfort and reassurance, checking in with us so much more than I expected and offering the debrief I needed to process the birth and celebrate myself. I can’t express enough how much it meant to feel unconditionally accepted in every step of this journey. Jin, you gave me the space to truly be myself in such a critical moment for self-trust, and I couldn’t have asked for a better guide and companion.
